Overview

  • An amazing journey

Attendees can expect a unique trip at Bikeout: Philly to Phoenixville. More than 200 riders will follow the Schuylkill River Trail from the heart of Philadelphia to the rolling hills of Chester County. Our trail parallels old canal ways and historic railroad track, with plenty of scenic waterside views and greenery.

    A campout celebration

On the farm, we'll set up our campsites — tent, sleeping bag and gear — and spend an evening enjoying the company of the bike community. A delicious farm-to-fork meal will be served and we'll have live music, great brews, and a campfire to round out the night. Finally, we'll sleep under the stars in one of the farm’s meadows.

Relax & learn

At the farm you can take a dip in the creek, enjoy a farm tour, learn a new skill at one of our workshops, or enjoy a sunrise yoga class before we start the ride home the next day.

Eat & drink local

Enjoy a flavorful meal prepared by a local chef with ingredients from Sankanac CSA and other local farms. We'll also highlight the great work of brewers in the area with beer, kombucha, and morning coffee from nearby partners.

Route

This ride starts near the Art Museum in downtown Philadelphia, following the Schuylkill River Trail through the canal paths of Manayunk, and past Norristown and Conshohocken. There's a quick break for lunch at Valley Forge National Historical Park before continuing on through Phoenixville and onto backroads in to get to the farm. We'll return using the same route the next day.

Difficulty

This two-day weekend ride is 70 miles round trip or 35 miles each day. The terrain is predominantly flat with about 5 miles of moderately rolling hills near the farm. About 30 miles of the route will be on protected paved trails, with about 5 miles on roadways with car traffic. For the road riding portion, Bikeout works with local officials to select the safest route possible.

At Bikeout, riders should feel comfortable on their bikes for up to 3-4 hours at a time. We recommend checking out our training tips and always consulting a doctor to make sure you are in good health before starting any new training regimen.

Finally, this ride is supported by experienced group leads and mechanics navigating small riding groups of 10-15 riders, as well as a support vehicle should a bicycle or rider become unable to complete the ride. Just in case, riders will have access to important Bikeout contacts as well as turn by turn directions in the event app.
